Abstract

The Formula student competition challenges teams of university undergraduate and graduate students to conceive, design, fabricate, develop and compete with small prototype formula type vehicle. The rules limit performance of the engine by addition of a 20mm diameter restrictor within the air intake system. The air intake system is designed for a flat torque curve with high peak to increase drivability. Different intake models were designed and simulated using Solid works and ANSYS Fluent. The design with least pressure drops and maximum mass flow rate was selected.
